Will Mali's coup backfire?

Some of you might be asking along with me, what is the essence of democracy if there is no freedom of expression. Is a coup an expression of frustration? Most might be fast to deny this. Then what is the essence of a democracy if it does not deliver? what is the lesson of democracy to the military and what role do they play? This is a jumble up of questions that most can give answers that are to the most part biased and wrong. I believe that for the purpose of a peaceful countenance we are not to chase the essence of democracy and rather it should follow. Sometimes violence is the key but in Mali i do not know what is the prescribed key. Suppose a better way other than this least appealing coup could have been taken to resolve the issue with president Toure and leadership with integrity should have been pursued. Suppose the peoples interest was adhered to and Captain Amadou Sanogo could have thought of the long term effect of his "taking matters into own hands" approach. I believe there would have been longer lasting peace rather than the chant of longer lasting democracy that other than the word has nothing to do with it. What do you think?
